Saturday Night Live: The 5 Best Musical Performances This Decade!

By  October 17, 2015

Late-Night television staple Saturday Night Live has recently kicked off its 41st Season, sprawled over 40 years, and it has seen everyone from Simon & Garfunkel to Nirvana and even Ashlee Simpson.

Yes, this actually happened on live TV. Her career never climb back up since.

Here are the five best performances SNL has had this decade.

5. Rihanna – Stay [2012]

Rihanna’s vocals really shone through the roof here, in a rare occasion where she actually, you know, sings perfectly on pitch.

4. Sam Smith – Lay Me Down [2014]

If you take a closer look, Sam Smith literally has tears welling up in his eyes as he delivers his most emotional rendition of Lay Me Down yet.

3. Sia – Chandelier [2015]

Despite not showing her face to the camera, the mime, backing orchestra and piano are enough for Sia to shine through.

2. Frank Ocean – Thinkin Bout You [2012]

Sitting on a stool in what looks like an old bar with arcade machines surrounding him, Frank Ocean soulfully belts out one of the best songs he has ever recorded.

1. Kanye West – Black Skinhead [2013]

The most original performance SNL has seen in a very very long time. Only made possible by none other than Yeezus himself, Kanye West.

Have we missed out any? Let us know!

Saturday Night Live airs on Comedy Central every Saturday at 9pm (TH/WIB), 10pm (HK/PH/SG/TW) and 11pm (MY)
