Ed Sheeran on Game of Thrones: We Definitely Hurt His Feelings

By  July 19, 2017

I’m not gonna lie.

I’ve laughed at all the memes and expressed my annoyance over Ed Sheeran’s cameo on Game of Thrones more times that I can count over the past two days.

People were hilarious, we can’t deny that fact.

Sheeran’s scene as a Lannister soldier certainly had an impact on my overall enjoyment of the episode, just like any other millennial who is eagerly following today’s pop culture scene.

Just when you thought you were fully immersed in the fantasy world of Westeros, a familiar face pops up, suddenly reminding you that the show is in fact fictional - way to ruin the sense of escapism there!

Unfortunately, this is not Hannah Montana meets The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. People these days don’t get excited about crossovers anymore.

But after hearing about his sudden disappearance from Twitter due to the mockery, I realized that Sheeran was just a normal fan who wanted to be on his favorite show. I mean, LET THE GUY LIVE!!!

Despite the backlash, Game of Thrones director Jeremy Podeswa has Sheeran's back, even complimenting his performance – "In the world of the show, he did a lovely job, and he looks like he belongs in that world."

We also have other GoT fans who supported the scene, saying that it was an essential part of the storyline.

So, there you go! Please remember to be kind to one another, especially to Ed Sheeran. The lad tried, for goodness’ sake!
