Liam Payne and Zedd Drop A Big Surprise in London!

Liam Payne of One Direction and Zedd hit the hottest spots in London for an impromptu live performance of their collaborative single Get Low, in a video released on 19th September.

The music producer commented in the description: “Liam and I decided to go to London and surprise fans with a street performance of Get Low. We both wore backpacks with speakers. Liam had a mic and I had a little keyboard. We went to the most public places we could imagine to perform this with cameras following us.” The duo managed to steal the eyes (and hearts) of the passersby indeed, as the video features visibly starstruck spectators dancing and singing along- some lucky fans even managed to snag a selfie with the pair!

To be perfectly honest, the song itself is serviceable at most, it does little to differentiate itself from the run-of-the-mill tropical house track. However, after watching the dance number dial up the energy levels of the crowd this effortlessly, it's hard to deny one thing: Get Low does what it wants to do very well.

Who will emerge victorious?

Liam Payne recently visited the Late Late Show to talk about his new life as a father and exactly why he decided to name his son a particularly unconventional name.

Before his designated segment, Corden was casually telling the audience why he thinks that boy bands are better than solo artists. He reckons that wearing similar outfits, having cool dance choreographies and harmonies are so much cooler than boring old solo artists.

Lo and behold, Liam Payne appears out of nowhere to challenge Corden's claim. It's ironic to say the least as Payne is currently on hiatus from his boy band, One Direction, and pursuing a solo music career.

Payne and Corden continuously throw shade at each other while belting out hits by solo artists as well as boy bands respectively before coming to a conclusion that there can be a world where the two can successfully coexist.

Former One Direction member, Liam Payne has just done another interview, but isn't just any boring press interview because for this one, Liam was cheated into doing it.

YouTube star, Caspar Lee tricked Liam into doing an interview with him, pretending to want to teach him how to incorporate South African style of singing into his music. In the video, Caspar mentioned that he only wanted to ask Liam some questions and was afraid he wouldn't want to do an interview with a YouTuber like him, so Caspar invited him over for some vocal lessons.

Liam showed up three hours late but eventually the two got into doing some vocal warm ups and South African singing.

One Direction's first verse man, Liam Payne, now has all the verses to himself as he has finally dropped his first single as a solo artist.

Liam has finally caught up with his ex-bandmates on their own solo projects with his debut single, Strip That Down, featuring Quavo. Surprisingly, it's not bad, despite it being an expected direction (pun intended) for him to take. His song is a simple Hip-Hop/R&B tune with one of the most obvious musical elements is its pre-chorus which sounds pretty much like the chorus to Shaggy's It Wasn't Me.

The other thing that jumps out from the song is the lyric: / You know, I used to be in 1D / now I'm out, free / which seems like he's dissing his fromer band and bandmates. Of course he got a lot of backlash for it but he denied any intentions of being disrespectful in an interview, saying, "I never wanted it to be taken in a negative light. First off I thought that hiatus was some sort of religious thing, so when they said hiatus I thought we were all going to turn into monks or something. But I actually think the hiatus works out best for everyone because we all get to explore our music."

So that line is still up to interpretation and different opinions, just as the song itself is, with some people finding it underwhelming while others finding it a great start to Liam's solo career.

This gave me goosebumps.

Yes, we know Zayn is no longer part of One Direction and the remaining guys are still on a break partaking in some solo stuff. But this mashup fulfilled my directioner heart and sort of brought me back to the good ole days. This minute long video combines the greatness of all of their debut solo tracks (This Town, Sign Of The Times, Just Hold On and Pillowtalk) in one.

For each of them, the release of their first solo single marks the start of a new era. A new era that we will see unfold before our eyes in the near future. As cliché as it sounds, it is actually really heart-warming to see the boys branching out into their individual style of music and the success from it is just the icing on the cake.

Eminik is known for mashing up tracks mainly from pop stars and he posts them on his YouTube channel.

PS: We’re still waiting for that solo debut Liam!

Let’s go ahead and break down what happened this week, we have got stories from Carly Rae Jepsen, Liam Payne and the 2016 VMAs!

1.     Carly Rae Jepsen Re-emerges Singing Electropop

Say goodbye to her pop days, remember when Call Me Maybe and I Really Like You were topping charts and playing on all the radio airways? Caryl Rae Jepsen has re-emerged into the music scene playing electropop tracks with a tiny dash of retro.

Watch her perform the new tracks at Pitchfork Music Festival here

2.     2016 VMAs Nominations

The time has come again; it is time to see which of your favourite artists have scored VMAs nominations. Beyoncé leads the pack with 11 nominations including Video Of The Year, Best Female Video and Best Pop Video. Followed by Adele who goes head to head with her for all 8 categories she is nominated for. You can get the full list of nominees here. It will be a real interesting show to see who takes home the trophies.

Unfortunately, voting is not available in Singapore but in the meantime here is a playlist of the nominated songs and our preditions!

3.     Simon Cowell Disses Liam Payne On His Loyalty

When the news broke that Liam Payne from One Direction had signed a solo recording contract with Capitol, directioners were in a state of frenzy. Furthermore, Liam tweeted that the band was his ‘home and family’ but he is excited to embark on this new journey. Did this move from Liam indicate that One Direction will no longer reunite and they will part ways to do solo work?

Few days later during an America’s Got Talent press call; Simon Cowell spoke about the loyalty of the band and missed out Liam’s name. Oh no.

In another interview, Simon was asked if he intentionally left out Liam’s name when talking about the band member’s loyalty. Although Simon did not out rightly say ‘yes’, he did mention that he was surprised by the news.

Bonus: Celeb-Moji: Who Is This?

Ever since the release of KIMOJI, a couple other celebrities like Justin Bieber, Zayn Malik and Fetty Wap have followed her footsteps and came out with their own set of Emojis available on the app store. Couple days ago, former Take That member Robbie Williams jumped on the bandwagon.

Let’s play a little game here, who are these singers? Leave us a tweet with your answers.

Just five months after One Direction announced that they would be going on hiatus and a month after their last concert together, rumours have it that a permanent split may be inevitable for what is left of the band.

While most directioners may be saddened by and in denial of the rumours, below are three reasons why you should be actually glad if the band really does break up.

More than one album

With Zayn Malik's solo debut album already slated to be released this year, the other members are also gearing up for their respective solo careers as well. Harry Styles has been reportedly taking singing lessons from Ron Anderson (who has previously coached Adele) and Liam Payne is apparently about to launch a rap career. In other words, instead of just one album from One Direction, this split would grant us at least three different albums from the guys! YASSSSS.

The boys get to be who they want to be

While Liam would sometimes rap spontaneously during concerts, he probably would never have the chance to do so on a One Direction album due to the fact that it just doesn't fit in with the band's image and sound. Going solo would allow the boys to explore different sounds and ultimately follow their own individual music direction which would have otherwise been impossible as a band. Instead of the cutesy pop that we've been hearing from the band all these years, we can look forward to rap and maybe even country or metal, who knows!

An epic reunion in future

Take a look at bands such as Backstreet Boys and Spice Girls, that broke up but got back together later. Their reunions were no short of epic and although it may take some time, their reunions were definitely worth the wait - what more of One Direction. Hopefully time would mend the relationship between Zayn and the others.
